Any experience OCing mobile P4 CPUs?

So I just got a mobile P4 1.6 CPU that I'm pairing with an Asus P4XP-X (845 chipset) motherboard. As expected, it defualts to 12x multiplier, so 133MHz FSB= ~1600MHz. So far that's stable, but I haven't played with the system enough to see how high it will go.

It seems like the PCI bus is locked, so ~166FSB shouldn't be an issue for this mobo. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with these CPUs and how high you've been able to OC them.

It seems like their low Vcore and lack of heat spreader should make these OC like mofos!

well, it looks like it's gonna be somewhere around 185MHz FSB max (CPU @ 2220MHz). It may be my RAM crapping out or maybe the 845 chipset can only handle that much. I'll see what I can do though. I need some more time....

bet you it's the chipset....

if you can get your hands on a springdale or canterwood board, try out on that! :)

I had a P4 1.6cpu, not the best as it was from the same batch as 1.4-1.8's still 2.7ghz at 1.65-1.7v is not to be sneezed at. Much past 2.8ghz was the limit for these chips. 2.0ghz chips hit their wall about 3.1ghz, by this I mean drastic voltage increases gave minor fsb speeds.

P.s. 845 chipset was limited to 227fsb in my experience sis 645 was 166fsb. 848 should allow 200fsb but might require a pin to be broken.

I guess I could pop the CPU out of my system (865 chipset) and give this one a try. I'm currently using a P4 2.53 that tops out at about 3.1GHz. If I could get this CPU that fast with the higher FSB, then that should be a nice little performance increase...
