I'm trying to decide what career path to follow and I'm curious about EMT work. How much training would I need to land a job? What's the pay like? How are the hours? Do you like the work? Is it easier to get into the fire dept if you're an experienced EMT?
 
you can always do volunteer EMT work for a while to see how you like it. you'll get some useful experience

sounds like a good idea. How does it work, can I just go to any hospital and sign up? Or do I need to have special training ahead of time?
