Any electronics guys awake?

From what I understand, 28C64 EEPROM is pin compatible with 2764/27C64 EPROM (UV erase / or oneshot)

So.. is it safe to say that i can replace a 2764 with a 28C64?

This is for the ECU in a car.

ummm..im no electronics guru, but just because the eeprom pins are the same doesn't mean they are the same chip?

Well theyre both 64k (8k*8) ROM chips, with the same pinout, just one is electronically eraseable, and the other you need a UV light. As far as I know it *should* work, I'm just not positive.

The "C" makes it CMOS. Check the voltage levels between the chip and the thing you are putting it in.

Good Luck

Scott

CMOS is much more sensitive to static, so be careful about that. the chips should be the same, but as you said, their mechanism for erasing is different. that should be the only difference. go to www.ti.com and check to see if the pinouts are the same.
