To make the story short after replacing an electrical socket in the house i hear BZBZBZBZZZZZZZZzZZz when i turned the power back on. Now all the sockets on that particular switch/breaker? will not work. Can anybody tell me how i should go about replacing the breaker/fuse? As far as i can tell it's made by the challenger company.

if you need closer pics let me know.

Shut the main breaker off. Open panel. Replace bad breaker. Put panel back on. Restore power.

Problem is what did you do to cause the breaker to trip. Usually it takes a bit to completely screw up a breaker. Is it old wiring? Will the breaker flip back to the on position? Does it immediately flip back? What is really going on?

Is it possible that you messed up installing the new outlet and you have a short circuit?

LOL....

If you can't rewire some outlets, I don't think you should be working on your houses electrical system. Electrical fires are no joke. Not to mention the whole electrocution thing. ;)

Call someone who knows what they're doing, and be prepared to shell out teh $.

Sounds like you might have wired a short into your outlet.

Make sure the breaker for the circuit is off.

Remove the receptacle you just installed from the box.

You should have the black (positive) wire connected on one side of the receptacle (to the screw with is brass/gold in color).

The white wire is connected to the opposite side (silver screw).

The ground wire, which is usually green, it could also be a bare wire or another color should be attached to the green screw on the receptacle.

Energize the circuit and it should work.

I apologize if I sound condescending in this post.

why would you want to replace the breaker? it worked fine before you screwed with the receptacle, and now it doesnt work, that means you f'd something up

check your work, and if your house burns down due to an electrical fire, dont complain

Sounds like a shorted receptacle, or wiring to the receptacle. De-energize the circuit and recheck your work. The breaker is likely okay, and is just tripping to protect the wires from melting.

Have you tried flipping the breaker back on? As has been said already, turn master breaker off, replace bad breakers and turn back on. You are going to have to undo what you did to the socket else you are going to blow them again.

WTF were you trying to do to the socket?
