One thing you can't do on a simulator though....build a crystal set radio. I used to love those when I was a kid.

It sure is more fun having the components in your hands and measuring here and there... One great thing of breadboard is that i learned fast about bad contacts that do not like mechanical vibrations and how it influences the circuit. Or a bad ground connection...
