When creating a listing, it gives you an option to add extra notes regarding the condition. I recall seeing that in the iOS app and the web site.
 
once you use the drop down the select a condition other than new with box, a text box should appear directly below the drop down menu
 
You are probably using the quick listing tool, if so, you should see an option at the top right of the page to switch to the advanced version. Once switched, you should see the text box under the drop down for selecting the items condition. If the advanced tool looks too confusing, you can switch back at any time. You could also fill out everything in the quick tool, then switch to advanced just to fill out the condition box before you list it.

I've always just used the quick tool and further described the items condition in the normal description box.
