Any easy way to add TV or S-video out to a laptop without?

I was poking around Newegg and found a VGA-to-analog box, but how good could the quality on that be? Basically, I want to be able to watch DVDs and play games on my TV through the laptop (obviously not very new games with the x31) but you get the point. Is there a USB solution out there?
