I've been a pretty big car enthusiast past 20+ years. # of years ago I noticed that I enjoy driving lot more than actual cars.

Give me any car + good sound system and a open road, I'm set.Thankfully wife is a huge "road trip/nature" fan as well.

We just got back from our 13 year anniversary. Went down to Catskill mountains for few days (anyone ever been there?). What a beautiful/amazing area with awesome roads. Went around Ashokan Reservoir (Rt 28 + 28A. Also went around to Co Rd 47 (Big Indian ), Route 55/55a and back down Sundown Road. Also went to Woodstock (long way of course)....up route 214 (amazing road) down 23A/212.

Just when I thought CT had beautiful roads.....

Anyone enjoys the roads? Post some nice scenic roads in your area.

I heard BMW's are some of the most reliable and well made cars in the world, using only the best parts. They're just about perfect.

Thankfully my sarcasm meter is not made in Germany!!!

Not only they are most reliable cars int he world, they are also the most beautiful!!!

BMW reliability is shit - a lot has to do with their electronics nowadays - but it handles better than any others (even at 6000 lbs) except for maybe Porsche, but it's also a good chunk cheaper than them. Driving enthusiasts' dream.

Glad we cleared that up.

My family had a cabin that my grandfather built in the Catskills. Was so epic. I'm sad that my parents/aunts/uncles decided to sell due to a lack of visiting :(

I have a dream of driving in our(my dad and I bought one) Viper across the country, top down.

Too bad, such a beautiful area, but def for those that love nature/peace/quiet.

Noticed quite a bit of poverty there, but also plenty of amazing homes.

Roads were in a bit rough shape in some spots, not sure if I would want to take my lowered VW down those roads....hehe

i would say i love driving cars. its not really so much the car in particular, though better cars are better for it. i just like being on the road, driving somewhere , moving scenery, great music etc.

i mean , i've rented shitboxes like the yaris, or impala and i still enjoyed driving as long as there wasnt traffic.

i dont know hell im going to vegas in 2 weeks from LA and i even enjoy the drive to there which most people would call pretty boring and straight. same with the drive up to the bay area from LA on the 5 freeway. but i just love it. just driving along, passing cars, listening to music, its so relaxing. most of my friends think im crazy because i've done these drives usually by myself and dont really mind it. and when you get on an actually windy road its even BETTER! i hope we never get rid of cars, or well that th epeople who dont like cars can just take public transit... more road for us.

oh and ... i DO drive a bmw, and have had some decent cars.

my least reliable car. audi. BMW i havent had long, but my parents have had 4 and they all seemed pretty reliable, nothing engine related. i do have to say my brand new bimmer the idrive randomly rebooted itself the other day and shut the radio off. that was odd... drives great though. i'd say BMW is the most overall balanced car i've driven. but its not the "hooliganism" of say a mustang , i dont think thats really their thing. i had a first gen G35 coupe and that car was so much less refined, but it definitely had that, AHAHAHA this car is ridiculous grin making appeal.

I do enjoy cars, tinkering with them and owning them, but I've found the driving part to be a chore.

I drive a lot at work, about 35,000 miles a year in town, so driving rarely is relaxing to me.

Driving is a passion of mine. I'll take the long way to get places just for the sake of driving.

Years of track days and autocross and hooning made me a enthusiast. I enjoy so many facets of mechanical stimulation that my wife thinks I have a problem. Shes happy that I spend time in the garage and not at the bar.

I am more of an acceleration fiend. The sense of acceleration trumps finally getting there speed wise. I really really really enjoy smaller engines that I can wind out. There was nothing more fun than jumping on my RZ350 in the 90s and going for a ride in Southern California.

Wife and I love road trips but that has become a rarity since we have 3 year old triplets.....

You should use "road trips" as a relaxing tool. We have 4 kids and roadtrips are usually when we get them to relax/sleep (especially when they were younger).

Me too man. I miss my fiat 131 mirafiori to this day. I leaned to drive when I was 6 in fiat 600

Ohh wow, nice!!!

That's a luxury fiat compare to what I'm used to hehe

Place me in any car with a manual transmission and I'm happy. Point me to the nearest set of twisties.

I love to drive. Some good music to sing along with, and I couldn't be happier.

Three road trips in the last eight months. Ready to go again. :)

Yeah but you drive automatics which means you're not a true enthusiast.
