Any downside in using older basebands on iPhone?

I'm considering to upgrade my iPhone 4 to 5.0.1 while preserving the old baseband (1.59.00) to have an option to unlock it if needed. Since I use AT&T, I don't really need an unlock, other than for resale value.

Is there any downside in using older baseband, like open bugs, unpatched security holes, etc? On iPhone firmware wiki, I see that there were 4 baseband versions released after my current one. What exactly is being changed in them? iOS release notes mainly concentrate on firmware changes. Will appreciate any info or links/references!

Baseband updates are often issued to fix certain bugs with the phone radio. Things like battery draining or poor signal. But those are rarities. Most baseband updates on iOS have been to "patch security holes", or in other words, to fix unlock exploits.

The baseband is a separate processor entirely, so it shouldn't affect the performance of the main firmware.
