Today I bumped my thumb into a surface grinder while the wheel was spinning and well it messed up my thumb pretty good. I had it in a bandaid for the past 2 hours and I just changed it now cause it was all red. Now my question is, all the skin arond the cut is all white and hard, does this require some special medial attention or should some antibiotic cream and baidaids do while it heals. My guess is that it wont quite heal properly anyways because it went down to the bone on the tip of my thumb and along my nail, so about 1/4 of my nail is missing.

IANAD (I am not a doctor) if your bleeding and u can see your bone from the cut, you may need medical attention. But that's just me.

Aight, I put on my scrubs and doctor hat.

Sounds like the skin is dead, but it will heal OK without special creams. If you want to be sure, use some sort of antibiotic cream to prevent infection, and change the band-aid every once in a while.

Me, I'd gnaw off the dead skin. But I wouldn't recommend it to others.

It went down to the bone? And you didn't go to the hospital why?

You are asking for a major infection.

Oh...Pics?

yea wouldn't want to risk an infection since that was a deep cut with a dirty blade... (might need those tetanus shots too)

I'm of the opinion that if you have to ask then you should probably go to the doctor.

Don't be a dumbfvck. Go see your doctor.

doc said polysporin and band aids, just what I was doing. As for pics, you cant really see anything cause it is covered in polysporin and it hurts too much to touch it so Im not qiping off the cream.
