dot com is much more catchy.

Maybe in a few years, but for now, .com, .net, .org domains are the three most recognized "extensions"...
 
thanks for the reply. i went ahead and bought the .us domain, since i already own the .com with the same prefix it should be alright. it was only 2.99/yr
 
normally eery site localised to the US market should use the .us domain, .com is very abused and not used very much for it's real meaning (a commercial website) but it's too late to change anything about that now.

.NET and .ORG are way more abused... .NET was supposed to be for ISPs and .ORG was supposed to be for non-profit organizations.
