Any Difference in these 2 GeForce 8400GS Cards?

Get neither. Get this 7300GT instead. It'll kill the 8400GS in anything. Plus with a $20 MIR it's a win win 🙂

The 7300GT is closer to an 8500GT than it is a crippled 8400GS in terms of performance.

The price definitely looks right! 🙂

The 7300 is only 128MB while the 8400GS is 256. I may want to run 2 separate monitors so is the 8400GS a better option if I decide to upgrade to Vista later?

I don't do any gaming at all, and hardly watch movies. I do a lot in windows, photoshop, and stuff that is basic for a video card.

i'd say there is no difference. honestly get the XFX one, the small fan on the MSI is probably buzzy while the xfx is passively cooled.

if you just run 2 monitors or dont game, the ram difference will not matter. 8400gs is better for hd decoding, but you said all you do is windows and such... youd' probably be fine with almost any recent card and possibly even integrated video if it had DVI out.

Someone told me that Vista Aero requires 128MB per monitor. Is that so? I want to be sure the card can handle whatever I throw at it in windows.

I agree it would be nice to not have another crappy fan making noise in there.

The Aero video RAM requirements vary depending on monitor resolution:

1280x1024 and below= 64MB
>1280x1024 to 1600x1200 = 128MB
>1600x1200 to 2560x1600 = 256MB

This is per display so double that amount for two identical monitors.
