Does anyone own a Dell XT? If so, have you upgraded the hard drive? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a Dell XT tablet from the Dell Outlet, but the one thing holding me back is Dell's spec sheet listing a 1.8" PATA HDD.
I dug around and it sounds like one user thinks the XT can hold a 2.5" HDD, but that user never followed up with the thread. I just want to be able to upgrade to a SSD when prices stabilize and a drive with a good controller is released.
So if you own a Dell XT and have upgraded the HDD, what do you remember? If you haven't upgraded, would you mind taking a look at the HDD bay?
Are there other tablets I should consider? I plan to take notes in class on the tablet, so I'm looking at active digitizers. I also want an LED-backlit screen (for battery life), and a touchpad (I'm not good with the pointers). Beyond that, I'd like to be able to upgrade to a SSD down the road. Fingerprint readers, cameras, etc are all optional. But the LED backlight, touchpad, and SSD upgradeability are pretty big factors. The XT2 is looking pretty interesting too, but it's way out of my price range.
