Any Dell Inspiron Gurus here?

I have 2 motherboards-1 is supposed to be out of an Inspiron 8100 & the other out of an Inspiron 8000. I cant tell which is which. Can anubody help me?

Yeah, ive tried there as well. Only response I got was that the 8000 uses the 815e chipset & the 8001 has the 815ep chipset. Far as I can tell both of my motherboards have the 815ep chipset.

if you can get the two boards running , just run the intel chipset ID utility on them

anybody know what processor the 8000 takes. I thought it was the mpga2, but the one I bought(p3 650 SL4JY) is too small for the socket

i found out that the inspiron 8000 can take a 1ghz p3.
the version you bought is probably an older version of the p3.
search around for a 1ghz version, its your best bet.

Yeah, I know it can take up to a 1ghz p3, but what tpye of processor form factor does it use?

Something is very wrong with your motherboard then, since the I8000 uses Micro PGA2 and they only come in one pin style for the P3's in this range. In fact, the 700mhz processor I just pulled out from mine (I upgraded to a faster chip) is an SL4JZ.
