Hi friends,

Wishing all of you, and your loved ones, a very Happy Thanksginving.

I am looking for a ~13 or ~14 inch laptop for home use, and was wondering if there are any good deals for Black Friday/Thanksgiving/the holiday season.

I prefer a Windows based pc, which will be used for internet surfing, basic MS office and general day to day use. No gaming or programming.

Are there any good deals on Thinkpads or Lenovo's? I like the built in track pad and the centered keyboard.

One of the issues I have with the newer styled laptops is the un-centered keyboards, due to the number pad on the right.

I am located in Houston, TX USA and am a member of Costco and Sam's Club. I am open to buying the laptop online or in store.

Thank you,
desidude

Hi RossMan,

Thank you for your reply. I would like to spend around 400-500 if possible, but am flexible.

Thank you for your referral - the issue with the Acer is that it is 15.6 inches, and I am looking for something in the 13-14inch range.

Thanks!

I haven't shopped for laptops in years but my kid will need one for high school in September. Is this good enough of a deal to pull the trigger or should I wait for *back to schoo"l sales in the summer?

There is a misconception that Black Friday offers the best selection and prices. You can find quite a few deals but there are always bargains on laptops and technology rapidly evolves.

September 2016 is a good 10 months away, I would definitely wait.

Feel free to PM me the features you're looking for, budget and your e-mail address. When I see a deal that meets your criteria I'd be happy to give you a heads up.

Agreed with Rossman here. All of the TVs listed here for BF sales (in the big TV thread), are at the same sale price, same models, as when I bought my current TV back in September--labor day weekend (55" Samsung 4K "Smart" 2015 model).

Actually, I paid about $50 less then and with free shipping from Best Buy B&M (got them to price match free shipping from Amazon)

I'm noticing similar pricing with computers and related.

I'm also looking for a replacement laptop for someone, good quality/east of use, nothing fancy but 1920x1080 I want, ~400 (or a little more) range.

If this is still available it's a good deal considering the specs/features.

How important is the processor to you? Here's a Dell from Amazon: 13.3" with Core i5 6200U. I got this one for myself. I'm rather annoyed how the 15.6" laptops are so much cheaper than a 13.3" with comparable performance. Do people really like the size of a 15.6" laptop?

OP, if you don't mind refurbished, I recommend you go to Dell outlet when they have 25-30% off coupons online.

A few days ago, you could get a Dell Inspiron i3 2.0 Ghz with 8GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive, 15" screen, Win8 with free upgrade to Win10 for about $250 plus sale tax. I purchased several refurbished laptops from Dell and zero issue.

You could get 13-14" for about the same price.
