I am avoiding Kodak and would like something close to $150 range.

Also, saw 2 camera's in that $150 range yesterday at BJ's

Samsung

Nikon Cookpix 2100

I am leaning towards Nikon but its ($179)...is there a better price than this?

Well I am asking opinions on the camera which falls under off topic but yes the title might be a little misleading.

Do you have a digicam brand preference? If so, which brands do you prefer?

Do you have a preference on media (CF, SM, SD/MMC, xD, etc.)?

I think CF would be nice. Right now I am avoiding Kodak but anything else should be ok as long as it falls within the pricerange.

This is not for me, it for my GF's parents and may be mine if the price is right :).

HP and Kodak digicams suck.

If you need this immediately before Christmas I would go for that Nikon Coolpix 2100.

Also check your local Target for clearance digicams like the Fuji 2650 for $99, Canon A60 for $199, Fuji A210 for $199, etc.

If you can wait and order online, Dell Home is offering 10% off and $25 off $350 coupon with FREE SHIPPING. Spend a few more bucks and buy the awesome Canon A70.

All Nikon and most Canon's use CF media.

cool thanks, I saw A60 for 199 somewhere but I think Nikon 2100 seems ideal considering how GF just decided last night that she wants camera for xmas gift :|.
