Looking to get a low priced X2 or C2D and vid card, but wanted to keep the DDR ram from my old system.

Any new motherboards support both?

for an amd x2 cpu, your gonna have to look at skt 939 motherboards, and not to many places are carrying them anymore. For CD2, i'm not to sure. I'm sure there are some out there that support ddr.

Check the asrock website. They have several boards that use ddr1 and core2 duo. Newegg sometimes has them cheap as open box bare boards without accessories. I recently ordered a backplate from asrock america for $5 shipped.

DDR2 is super cheap right now. Why go with a lower end system setup just to save $5 dollars. Sell your DDR1 and just buy a gig of DDR2 for $50-60

here is a search I did on newegg for socket 775 (Intel) and DDR. The only one there that is C2D is the AGP graphics card slot...

I'd have to agree. Right now 1 GB of memory starts at 40.99 at Newegg.
