Any Corsair Mechanical keyboard owners here?

Hi there!

I need input from any Corsair K70 mechanical keyboard owners. I'm debating between the standard and the RGB version of the K70. The one "nice to have" feature from the original are the textured WASD keycaps. I looked on Corsai'rs site and it doesn't look like the RGB version provides these caps.

So I'm hoping to get feedback from owners. Are there are showstopping defects or negatives from the OG K70?

Thanks in advance

I have the K70 RGB and have been using it daily for 6 months now, really solid keyboard, I have the Cherry MX reds which I was using in the keyboard I had previously so I was used to them and knew what I was getting. I have never used the OG K70 so I don't know of any difference, but no extra keycaps came with the RGB. The stock keys are fine for me, and I can set up custom lighting if I need to specifically differentiate keys for certain games (MMO vs FPS vs MOBA, etc).

Having had an RGB keyboard for a few months now I have to say I don't think I will be going to a non-RGB keyboard any time soon, I just really enjoy having it, even if it isn't always useful or needed.

I have the K95 RGB, annoying thing that ALWAYS happen to me is that the keyboard decides not to be detected and I have to unplug it and replug it in. And, I had to switch it to "BIOS" mode in order for the keyboard to work during POST. Even then, it's kind of 50/50. Corsair support leaves A LOT to be desired. (I have to create an account and post to their "problem" section on their website. They don't deal directly with you via e-mail)

Never had this issue, are you using an older motherboard without UEFI BIOS?

PBT keycaps all the way, why get just 4 keys textured when you can have the entire board that way.

nope, I'm using Z87 Gryphon Mobo. I hate the delay before windows fully load. And I hate how there's a "BIOS" mode. why can't it be just 1 mode for typing? and letting me customize each color a G key is fine, but don't give me 4 different modes! When I need to change something, I'll plug in my MaxKeyboard, because that works just plug and play. Same with my Deck keyboard.

Hmm I'm not sure I understand, you shouldnt need to change the modes at all. The switch is ONLY for if you are having issues with the keyboard being detected. I have never had to even touch the switch on the back of mine since I got it.

Also, make sure you are only using a single USB 3.0 port and only plug in the cable with the keyboard imprinted on the plug.

Lastly, make sure you are using the latest firmware and software (there were updates a few weeks ago if you missed them).

I personally use downloaded lighting schemes from the Corsair forums and have my profile switch button set as the skip forward media key so I can quick switch between lighting profiles without opening up the CUE software. With the K95 you can probably assign that function to one of the macro keys, the K70 doesn't have any macro keys which is why I reassigned the fast forward media key (i dont use the media keys regularly).

Sorry you're having difficulties but this keyboard has been nothing but smooth sailing from my own personal experiences with it.

Thanks everyone for your input....so I got the keyboard yesterday in cherry red flavor. I've had 2 gaming sessions and i walked away with a sore arm! Is there a different flavor (brown maybe) that doesn't require as much force?

Reds already have the lowest actuation weight, in fact that's the biggest complaint of the MX reds is they are TOO sensitive causing occasional bounce where you will double press on accident.

Browns have the same 45g actuation weight but provide tactile feedback when you actuate. So you feel a bit of resistance. Whereas the reds are linear and provide no tactile feedback.

ok thanks...after trying it out some more last night and this morning, I'm thinking that it's a combination of the layout and wrist rest. I'll need to try another brand and model of KB, which is a shame becuase I really like the look, build quality, and software
