my evga 939 NF-41 board just blew it's last cap and died. may it rip. it served me well for 5yrs.
i have my original ud3p, like i have in my sig that i replaced because i broke the 2nd pcie video card slot while taking out my 2lb. 4870X2 that went south.
i want to reuse that mb in my "daily driver' and bought a new E5700 for cheap.
?: wil my stock E8500 intel hsf work better than the stock e5700 hsf? it feels heavier and has more fins. both cpu's are a 45mm architecture and i'll be using as5.
tia 🙂 .

Yes, will fit, and yes, should cool better. They can both get pretty loud though, and not great for overclocking.

Thanks for the response. Don't really care about the o/c on this rig since i'm going from 1.8 to 3.0 ghz on the processor and updating the platform but it does have an evga gts 450 dx11 card and I'm doubling the ram to 4 gig and windoz7 64 so i'll probably fart around with it 🙂 .

Got my "daily driver" rig up and running using my E8500 hsf to cool that E5700 and I'm getting temps of 57C at idle! I know the hsf is seated and applied a thin layer of as5 but common. That's rediculous! It's in the same case as listed in my sig. I just ordered one of these: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1.
I know this processor and do 4.0ghz. no sweat.

Just installed the stock hsf that came with the E5700 and it now idles @ 37C. Fan rpm's increased by 400 and is quieter.
