Any cooks? I have a question about baking.

I'm making "raspberry cheesecake brownies" right now. This is the first time that I've used this recipe, so I don't know how it's going to turn out.

My first batch is in the oven. Basically, the bottom layer is fudge brownie and the top is cheesecake with raspberries strewn about.

The recipie calls for a baking time of 30-40 minutes.

If I were to add another layer of brownie so that the cheesecake layer is sandwiched, how much would that affect the baking time? I'm just wondering if the cheesecake layer will get enough heat without causing the brownie layer to burn.

edit: Note to self: add raspberries after baking so that they don't "melt" all over the cheesecake. 😀

Also, these brownies are uber rich and chocolaty. Almost too rich.

can you add the second layer later? like cook the first brownie/cheesecake according to directions, cook the brownie layer via a regular brownie recipe then make sandwich?

yikes...sounds good!
what i would do is just experiment with the next batch.
my only concern is that the cheesecake will be too dry when the top layer is done baking.
it seems that cheesecake is more delicate than brownie. but, try it. just check it every 10 minutes after 40min is up with a tooth pick or knife. you may want to actually break a part of one open and see how things a cooking.

they sound great though!

you could also try baking it in a water bath so that it doesnt get dry before it cooks. Or cook it at a lower temperature for a longer time as well.

I'm baking them for school on thursday. I have a presentation to make and having food for the professor isn't a bad idea. 😀

This batch is the test batch. If these are good, I'm not sure if I'm going to take a chance on the second batch.

Maybe I'll just double up on the cheesecake portion instead of making a sandwich.

I could do that, but I think the whole thing will look better if it all bakes together.

Well, you're supposed to let them sit in the fridge for 6 hours, but I can't wait that long. 😀

These brownies are super rich and super chocolaty. Almost painfully so. I only a 2 square inch piece and I don't think I could eat much more without a glass of milk.
