If you're a computer consultant, how have you been finding your projects?

I've been sending letters via snail mail and have had some great success. How have you found projects?

Let me know.

Are there are sources you use as a consultant to obtain some kind of "commission" for buying hardware for your clients?

I've been looking for some source without having to sell them myself.

With rare exception, if you buy the hardware then resell it, there is no longer a warranty to the user.

Places that sell name-brand hardware will not (should not) sell you a name-brand product if they know it's for resale...that would (usually) be a violation of their contract with the OEM.

The better way is to either create a "shopping list" or go shopping with the customer to help them buy the stuff they need.

I've been doing consulting for a few years now, and have never used anything but "word of mouth" as far as advertising! As for hardware, I explain everything and give them a choice which way they feel would be best for them and their situation. No problems to date (knock on wood)..........
