Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if there are any computer engineers in here or people that are currently majoring it in. I am highly interested in majoring in this at U of I. What are the classes like? I know its a lot of math and science, which i excel at. I'm still in high school now but I am pretty sure I want to become an engineer of some sort, can anyone provide any feedback on the courses? To those who have a computer engineering degree, what kind of job are you working at now? Is it fulfilling? Fun?
...Just wanted to get some feedback to those who major in this.

Thanks a lot

Be prepared, I know several people who started out in UI's CE program and couldn't hack it. They ended up dropping down to EE.

IC, did they say what was so hard about CE at U of I?
I'd like to think I'd be able to handle it, but i'm not sure what's required.
Maybe I should just go for a CS degree instead of engineering

ee/ce BS and MS in ucla. during the first two yrs you will be taking a lot of physics, chemistry, math, etc etc... during the third and fourth yr is when you will take a lot of ee/ce classes, which is much more interesting if you like it. but either way the last two yrs would be much much harder than the first two.

you definitely have to be strong in math and physics, and i'd add if you want to be successful in ee/ce, you gotta have the "feeling" in solving problem. i have been a lot of people good in math and physics, but they lack the "innovation" in ee stuff and end up doing badly.

also prepare to stay up late most of the time. from what i have seen cs/ee/ce major students have the least sleep time....

future? well, jobs are always there, and whether you like it fully depends on how you feel about your 4 yrs in college.

potz - you are probably taking cs 31/32/33 stuff and all the chemistry and physics huh? wait for another yr, probably at the end of your second yr you will start taking some upper division cources, those started with ee and 3-digit class (not EE1, 2, 10, those are nothing), and you will see what's the real pain about ;)

U of I is a great school, just be prepared for big classes, tough math, and un friendly instructors ;)

Wasn't this thread locked a few minutes ago?

Apparently the mod's been drinking... Do we have an inebriated mod here?

;)
