Any comparison on performance with different amounts of ram?

Debating if I should get 2x1GB for my laptop or 2x2GB, any thoughts? I'm short on RAM when I get into photoshop stuff, but that doesn't really happen often.

Outside of those things, would I ever see a benefit from more ram? I assume not, but I thought I'd double check. If boot times somehow are less or shut down time is less, that would be a selling point, but I assume that the HDD is the bottleneck for those.

hey i have a 2 * 2gb ram and it only shows me 2400 mb
they have some reason behind that i even searched google abt that but there were some pages and pages of explanations i was too lazy to read that big
but i heard that 2 * 2 gb is better than 1 * 4 gb and 2 * 1 gb and so on
i dont have any specific reference frame to tell u the comparision so why dont u post ur rigs config and i guess i think i can tell u the best ram
never the less iam also a amateur pc builder
but hey as far as i know and going by common sense 4gb is better than 2gb
and all the best wid ur new build

If your laptop can support it get 2 x 2 gig for vista as that will lalow vista 2 gig and your games 2 gigs. 2 X 1 is not enough and they was ram is so cheap now i go for the big 2 x 2.

Good Day
