Like a few other folks I'm working out an SB build for a 2500K.

I've been leaning towards the asrock extreme 4 though the 1 year warranty is a marginal turn off.

I've decided against hte asus (lots of issues folks are having); the gigabyte (over priced and weird hybrid bios), marginal on the msi (they were a pia on a rebate once; though the lady was very applogetic; but i've never had trouble with their hardware and their amd k3 mb was very good).

The biostar looks interesting. The only flaw I see with the extreme 4 so far is no 1x for a sound card and 1 year warranty. I like that it is very efficient and I'm not going to the nilly with overclocking. Still the biostar might be a reasonable board hence asking for opinions ?

Also how is customer service with biostar/asrock ? (I've always found asus slow but responsive)

I think that looks like a real nice board. My main objection is only 5x internal sata ports but that might be enough for you. The rest of the board looks good, decent heatsink on the vrm's attached with screws so you can replace tim yourself. Good fancontrol as well.

Problem is, it's hard to find good reviews on the Biostar boards. Somehow they're not that popular. For what it's worth (nothing): I have a friend who is very happy with his TPower i55.

Really? The gigabyte GA-MA67a-UD3 is overpriced at $99.00? The biostar is MORE than the gigabyte board.

The Biostar board offers x8/x8 CF/SLI, so yes it's gonna be a little more expensive. First to route the lanes, second to satisfy Nvidia's greed. You should be comparing against the GA-P67A-UD4.

The overclock folks seem to like the biostar (tom's hardware has a review of both the asrock extreme 4 and biostar). the negative (from reading reviews) has fewer ports in general. For the asrock one person is reporting that pcie 1 doesnt' work not sure if the other works. It sounds liek asrock has decent customer support.

As noted above the gigabyte ud3 is not a fair comparison.
