Any comments on the ALi socket A chipset?

I've got someone I know with a failing motherboard that needs to be replaced. Only thing is he's got 1.5gb of PC133 ram that he doesn't want to replace.

So I found I can get an Asus A7A133 board that uses the ALi chipset for $35.

Performance questions aside, anyone have any comments on stability or compatibility with these chipsets? I really do not want to buy a KT133A chipset board for him.

EDIT:
Thanks for the reply. I seem to remember Jetway also sold KT266 boards that supported pc133 ram.

Anyways, I looked over the options, and it occurred to me that pc133 ram has a higher resale value than ddr ram, so there really isn't any good reason not to switch to ddr ram if buying a new motherboard.

Biostar was still producing and selling a KT-266 board with both 168 and 184 pin slots for RAM right up to a year or so ago, and a lot of those are still in the retail channels. They seemed to be decent boards, too. I've had one, myself, and it worked very nicely.

Dude,
I had a couple of Ali mobos and they were "relatively" stable.

But let me say this:
They burnt the pants off the other motherboards with the same speed chips in them.

You could do worse.

I would certainly use later chipset drivers than the ones that ship with the mobos though.
