any comments on Tascam PortaStudio MKII 02 multitrack recorder?

I have a Tascam 488 8-track, and it's always been reliable. Had a few problems with the stop and play buttons being a little finicky (it was even repaired once.. :-\) and the 8th track sometimes will or won't work. But it has GREAT quality, even now being about 13 years old. It has served me well, and still does, I'm otherwise very happy with it! 🙂

It is a good, basic, analog recorder.
The fact that the cassette is recorded at 1 7/8 in/sec means you can use another cassette as a playback device should you wish to combine previously mixed tracks in with another cassette deck as a playback machine.
For Less than $150.00 bucks, it's a good place to start.
Remember, the quality of cassette used and how clean the machine is kept (heads, Capstan/Pinch roller) will affect the quality of the end product.
Good Luck.....
