Where do you go?
What is your major?
What is your GPA?

How has your experience been?
What do you like best?
What has been the worst part?

I am starting college next fall and from what I hear it is going to be a big change and a signifcant part of my life. I am very excited to be challenged and to find out what I can do. I am living in the dorms at Iowa State Univeristy, majoring in Computer Engineering. My earliest class is 10:00! Anything I should keep in mind while I make this transition?

Oh my god. You just asked like 10 billion questions that is going to make this thread like 5 pages long.

Have fun as everybody recounts their version of college :)

Physic s GPA = 3.2, overall = 2.5 i hate stupid graduation requirements

no idea what i like best or worse. im graduating next yeaa and i like that

Where do you go?
Western Illinois University

What is your major?
Law Enforcement, minoring in fire science.

What is your GPA?
4.0 in major, 3.785 overall

How has your experience been?
Nothing else like it for me.

What do you like best?
The women and the things i learn

What do you like worst?
The crazy people on my floor

BTW, if you find yourself spending 8 hours a day studying everyday, and its not finals time, you are spending way too much time studying. If you find yourself spending more than 8 hours a day fvcking off, during the school week, you are fvcking off too much, and need to concentrate on classes.

-University of Wisconsin Madison
-Chemical Engineering
-3.25 in Major, 3.3 overall (last time I checked)
I love it there. I live right on Lake Mendota in the lakeshore dorms. Can't complain a bit. I've never had nothing to do, people are always around, and willing to do stuff.
-The friends I make are the friends for life. Yeah, I thought my high school friends were great, until I came to college. Then I realized they were a bunch of shallow little boys looking for someone to jerk around with.
-The drunks. And there are plenty of them. They mess up the bathroom, get our floor in trouble, are loud when I'm trying to sleep (and no, it's not that early that I go to bed), and the lack of enforcement about alcohol in the dorms. Our RA didn't do a thing about it when she even SAW the alcohol in their rooms. However, the drunks work hard during the week, and play hard on the weekends.

College is what you make of it. I knew a guy that just sat in his room all day, playing video games. Never knew his name for the whole year. College is about the people you meet, along with the knowledge you gain along the way. Sure you need to study a lot, they're not kidding when teachers say that you need to read the book. It actually helps! So, get involved, find your niche, and make some friends. That is the secret to a great college experience.

Where do you go?
- PSU (Penn State University Abington Campus for the first 2 years)

What is your major?
- Electrical Engineering

What is your GPA?
- 3.45 Major, 2.95 overall (stupid gen eds are a waste of time)

How has your experience been?
- So far pretty good, but since I go to a commute only campus, no dorms, it hasn't felt like the full college experience yet. I am moving to the main campus in august and hope to have fun.

What do you like best?
- Small classes, pretty good professors. Campus I go to only has 3000 students.

What has been the worst part?
- The 35-50 minute commute EACH way for the past 2 years + 1 summer course :(!

[EDIT] Hey Anubis i'm going to that town in PA next weekend for a wedding! blegh it's gonna be boring, i'm not a big fan of formal events. [/EDIT]

Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA
Bio and History double major, pre-med
3.6 cumulative

I kind of wish I had gone to a another school, maybe a bigger one that's not in the middle of nowhere.
Can't think of anything that I absolutely love. I got to do crew which I probably wouldn't have done at another place.
Can't think of anything that I absolutely hate. Orgo, but I would have had to take it anyways. That fact that I only graduate with a BA in bio?

10am isn't too bad, I've always had classes from 9 or 10, the worst was 8am orgo. But then again I'm a science major and have labs in the afternoon so it limits my schedule. Last year my roommate picked his schedule by only taking classes in the afternoon, without considering what would happen to his requirements. Retard, I think he's on the 6year program.

College is what you make of it. Since there is no one to make you go to class or do homework or even clean your room, it's very easy to do nothing. Don't, you regret it later.

BTW, I hate PA and can't wait to get away from there:frown:

College is good. I like the freedom. Having to forage for my own food and necessities was the hardest transition.

going to Wabash College (Crawfordsville, IN) in the fall
plan to major in: English/Spanish

What do I like best: getting paid to go to college
What's the worst part: (this is the kicker) Wabash is an all male school.

Basically Wabash was my third choice college (Macalester and Kenyon were my top two) As it ended up, I have a full ride and then some for Wabash, which is a comparable school academically (although not quite as good, but almost) to Kenyon and Mac. However, I would have been paying 30k+ a year out of pocket for Kenyon and Mac....By going to Wabash I am getting paid to go, and I get some of the money my parents have saved up for my college when I graduate.

Really, that's all I hear. I was an EE in college at Johns Hopkins and I had a 4.0 in my non-engineering classes. I always here the Liberal Arts people complaining about having to take science classes.

Appreciate this time in your life!

I did my undergraduate work as a mother, wife, and working part time. Took me 10 years but my overall GPA is 3.85. I'm getting ready to start work on my Master's (Special Education) and that's going to be a neat trick... working full time, going to school at night (one class a semester, I can't handle any more than that!!!) AND taking care of my family.

My husband has his degree in Electrical Engineering... he was double majoring in Computer Engineering but never finished it up.

If there is anything I think you should keep in mind, it is that you have a golden opportunity here. Don't let the lure of late nights and wild life trip you up. ;)
