Does anyone know of a website that can kick out values? I have googled and gone to a couple, but have found there are some charts in which I have no idea what I am looking for.

Well the reason is that there are three children and we want to divide them fairly.

Only about 12 coins total. Not that big of a deal, but some are frm the 1800's so I figured I would look into value.

Anyone have a site where I can punch in the info?

OP didn't even state that he was selling them. Maybe he's just trying to find the value.

Asshole

Not that it would matter anyway.

she is dead. he has no use for hte coins. maybe cash is a better option for the estate. maybe they have huge medical bills.

either way it does not matter. its not like he was glad she was dead or such.

Pay no attention to the noob, however you may have wanted to add that important info in the OP.

Upon first read of the title, even I thought to myself "This guys grandma just died and all he is interested in is the value of something she left him?"

Exactly.

Write down the coin types, dates, and mints along with a brief estimation of the value. Pretty damn worn is "good", a bit better (but still old looking) is "fine", getting close to new is "extra fine", and new is "uncirculated". Then go to a book store or the library and look in the Black Book for a general idea on values. The date of the book doesn't matter that much as long as it's from the last couple years.

she is dead. he may not be into coins. the estate may need the money. whatever. nothing wrong with changing them for cash.

my mother has thousands of $$$ of coins that she wants me to sell but I dont know where to look either and consignment is out of the question

OK, since there are only 12 coins, can you take pix (both sides) of each coin and post them somewhere? PM the link if you don't want to post it here. I'll give you an idea what they are worth.

mrrman, where did she get the coins? Were they purchased from a coin dealer or pulled out of change over the years?

Your best bet is to look on ebay to see what the coins are selling for. Judging the condition of yours to the photos would also help to define the grade.

Grading is very subjective and has a huge impact on actual value.

If you want to list the year, face value, and mint mark here I will tell you the average value.

Dont be surprised to be disappointed, many mid grade coins are very popular and not really that valuable unless it is a key date.

My mom has sets of coins in gold and silver....not change type..she bought these through dealers
