Any Cigar Smokers?

I smoke about 2 to 3 cigars a week.

Here is what is in my humidor:
- Alec Bradley Black Market (Churchill); dark natural
- 5 Vegas Limitada 2013 (Belicoso); habano,.... won't restock,.. it's no longer being made
- Oliva Cain F (Robusto); dark natural
- Man O War Phalanx (Gordo); maduro
- Diesel Hair of the Dog (Churchill); Ecuador habano
- Diesel Wicked; (Belicoso); maduro,... they are on their way,... w00t!
- Tesa Cigars Cabinet 312 No.1 (Churchill); habano
- Tesa Cigars Shaman (Churchill); Brazilian Arapiraca
- Quesada Oktoberfest (box press Churchill); dark natural

Also, Churchill is my preferred vitola.

I've always wanted to take up smoking cigars, but haven't. It is really because I don't drink scotch to go with it.

Just bought some El Rey del Mundo Robusto, and brought back a couple of Cuban H Uppman robustos from Jamaica few weeks ago.

I think there is more draw from a 50-54 ring, and I like the robustos because it doesn't take me an hour to get through one, like some of the longer ones.

Yeah, robustos are nice - when I want to sample a new cigar, I take the robusto. I have time on my hands, so 2 hours is OK with me on a regular basis.

Also, I've notices that anything under a 50 ring gauge, I don't get the same flavors as I would with anything over 50. I wanted to go with 60s at some point (my Gurkha phase,..), but, it was always a nightmare lighting the cigar and keeping it going.

If it's a non Cuban I like Nicaraguan cigars. I used to smoke a lot but have been on and off lately..

I haven't smoked cigars in years...but damn, I LIKE a good cigar. I'm not one of the fops who just "mouth" the smoke though. Unlike Bill Clinton, I inhale when I smoke.

I am pretty sure Bill stated he tried to inhale but couldn't or didn't know how or something. He fully admitted, given a do over, he would inhale. At least, when it came to a certain, non cigar substance he attempted to smoke.

you inhale cigars?! damn you're as tough as you look

I bought a few boxes of cubanos a few years ago but I've smoked so few. It's been a waste, and I don't take care of my humidor like I should

Those Olivias are nice.

Someone else mentioned the Rocky Patel 1992's I very much enjoy those too.

Get ahold of some Ghurkha Spec Ops ;)
And also I've been really enjoying the AB Nico Puro's that they came out with. Nice and toasty.


And then for those very special occasions courtesy of a good friend that works for DHS...

Why are Cuban cigars to highly regarded? Is there really something different in how they are prepared or maybe the climate or something? Or, it is just that they are high quality and all imports from Cuba are banned, sort of like a forbidden fruit tastes the best thing?

Ghurkha Spec Ops is a great smoke. I was going to consider it over the Man O War Phalanx.

AB Nica Puro is great, toasty indeed. AB also makes something called Fine & Rare - it is a blend of 10 tobaccos,.. very tasty. Somewhat pricey.

If the Fine and Rare is out of your price range, I can recommend Psyko 7; http://venturacigar.com/brands/psyko-seven it's a blend of 7 tobaccos.

They have an 'earthy' flavor, that I consider smells like shit.

But, its a preferance frankly. I don't see myself smoking Cubans ONLY. When, and if, Cuban cigars are allowed into the US, I would not let go of the non-Cuban smokes. They are nice smokes nonetheless.

I smoke cigars on a regular basis when there's nice evening weather in IL or when I'm traveling and there's nice evening weather wherever I am.

I'm not particular to any specific strength or style.

In my Big humidor
CAO LX2 Robusto (I like quite a bit)
CAO Italia (I love these)
CAO Brasilia (I love these)
Cohiba Black Robusto (overrated, but still good)
Diesal Unholy Cocktail Punsiher (gimmicky)
La Herencia Cubana Oscuro Fuente (I love these)
Punch Toros (one of my favorite day to day smokes)
A half a dozen different Rocky Patels
Zino Classic #1 forget the size, not very big

I have some that smell like a barn (not very many)
Partagas Super Partagas
Partagas Mille Fleurs
H Uppman Magnum 46
Bolivar Royal Coronas

Then, in addition, I have a mix of maybe 50 or so "cheap" sticks
(stuff under $3 a piece) either from samplers, gifts, or when I find a sale that sounds interesting at places like CI or pipes & cigars.com
Stuff like, Bahia Maduros, fighting cock, oliveros, vigilantes, Rocky Patel R4s


In one of my small humidors I have any/all infused cigars.
Acid Kuba Kuba (not usually big on infused stuff, but every now and again I like one)
couple of different CAO flavors
(Some bags of bulk infused pipe tobacco as well)

My second small humidor is various pipe tobaccos (not infused) to keep them from drying out


My fiancee doesn't like most cigars, but, she is a smoker and she loves the smells of many of the infused pipe tobaccos, and she does like some of the infused little cigars. That said, I love a spicy medium to full cigar.

My first experience with Punch was that it was recommended by the old man who worked the Humidor at the Binnys (liquor store with decent walk in humidor/cigar selection) maybe 11 or 12 years ago. I was like 20 or 21, and I was tired of the crappy cheap gas station cigars and wanted to try something good, without breaking the bank. From the first puff, I was sold.

I don't claim that they are awesome or the best. But, they are a good solid smoke, decently full of flavor, and with medium body. Not peppery.


Avoid the gimmicky cigars that have the capsaicin/pepper infusion . I actually kinda like them, but, then again, I have been eating peppery foods pretty much my whole life, so after the amount of exposure I've got, I've probably built up a bit of a tolerance...

I don't watch enough Three Stooges to know what they smoked.

The largest cigar I've had was a Casa Blanca Jeroboam which was 10 inches long and a bit over an inch in diameter.

The largest common cigar size is a Churchill which is about 7 inches and ~3/4" in diameter.

Cubans aren't the best of the best. They are a different profile and I would say are on the lighter / medium side compared to non Cubans. If I go to a HERF I usually start my morning out with one because some are good breakfast cigars. Light non Cubans just taste like cardboard to me compared to Cubans that are on the lighter side..

Some smokers can exhale the smoke through their nose which opens up your sense to a lot of different flavors you won't get smoking regularly. With Cubans being a bit lighter you can enjoy them more exhaling through the nose. Non Cubans could be a little more harsh nosing since they can be stronger.. I've tried doing this and I can't do it at all so I don't get all crazy about the Cubans like some..
