Friend of mine picked up a pre prepped '87 Celica last year and a few of us decided to go ChumpCar racing with the little TuRD.

Did Sebring (14 hrs) and Atlanta Motorsports Park (double 7) in 2013. Planning to go do most of the races on the East Coast this year.

Anyone else on this forum go ChumpCar racing?

ModSquad used to do Chump Car, but we wound up not liking the attitude of a lot of the teams and governing officials, so we've only done Lemons races the past several years.

The last Chump race we did (and my first race) was 'The Longer Longest Day' 25hrs at Nelson Ledges. The race basically turned into a demolition derby. The course was black-flagged around 5am due to excessive contact and crashes, but it should never have gotten as far as it did.

Interesting... That seems to be quite different from what I've seen thus far. They appear to allow some competitive "rubbing/bumping". But take a harsh line to people doing intentional/stupid things like dive bombing. The last race at AMP was a double 7, and all the drivers got a stern warning after Day 1 because there were too many "incidents" and people were told to ease up a bit or expect to be black-flagged constantly on Day 2.

Lemons black-flags any contact and for putting four wheels off the track, which drives some people up a tree, but it keeps everyone's tempers in check. This keeps cars wheels-down on the tarmac for more of the race and helps to make sure that everyone gets to work on Monday.

I think if you flip a car that car is out for the season, but I'd have to check. I saw several flipped cars at my one Chump race and a grand total of one flipped car at 6ish Lemons races.

I think that one Chump race was particularly bad - combining the general attitude that was present with night racing = disaster. Though if I think about it...weren't most of the wrecks during the day? There goes that theory. :p
