Any chemists? Want to make homemade Tannerite

I know a homemade brew for Tannerite (exploding targets) can be made from ammonuim nitrate and aluminum powder. I believe the mix is somewhere in the range of 95%/5%, but am not sure.
Are there any aspiring chemists on ATOT that know the correct formula for a shock sensitive (not TOO sensitive) formula? Additionally, could one substitute other powders besides aluminum to create more smoke, or colored smoke?
Or does something like that require a 3 part mixture?

Thanks in advance! 🙂

do you want the FBI knocking at your door?

Its perfectly legal and the FBI wont give 2 whits. Its also perfectly legal to discuss publicly, so no worries.

Is that the stuff you have to hit it with a bullet going at least 3000 fps?

I'm not sure what the required velocity is

would depend on the stability of your mixture, yes/no?

Yes. But generally AN is a pretty stable substance so I would think about any AN based reactive target would require a fair amount of energy on impact to detonate.

Ammonium nitrate is seriously dangerous stuff. You might want to look at something tamer like nitrogen triiodide.

....or weapons grade Plutonium.
