Hi,

Seems P5W DH Deluxe is best mobo for Core 2 Duo right now and I like Asus, however it is very expensive and has alot of extra features I don't need?

Won't Asus release a cheaper, non-deluxe version of that mobo for Conroe?

What about Gigabyte or any other reliable mobo builder?

Nobody has heard anything about this.. the P5W DH Deluxe is rather expensive I believe and normally Asus also has non-Deluxe version of there mobo's.

Won't Asus release a cheaper 975X based motherboard for Core 2 Duo?

No alternative 975x boards??

Will an Asrock 945P board perform aswell or does the 975x chipset give better performance with Core 2 Duo's?!

The 975X chips is Intel's "enthusiast" chip, so it is expensive for the boardmakers from Intel. Because of this, the boardmakers are most likely only going to use the 975X chip on their more premium boards. That being said, the DFI Infinity 975X/G board was intended to be a lower priced (less than $250) 975X board, but with the 975X boards in such high demand, they are pretty expensive as well. If you want a lower priced Core 2 board, look towards the P965 chipset. The Asus P5B (non-Deluxe) looks like a solid board at $150... It's not nearly as pretty as the Deluxe and it doesn't support raid, as it comes with the ICH8 and not the ICH8R southbridge. If you aren't looking for all the bells and whistles and don't mind a plain looking PCB, it seems like it would be a solid board to go with. Intel also has a board with similar specs based on P965.

I just got the D975XBX from intel. I'll tell you guys how it is. It isn't too expensive, and it's also a rock solid mobo. You can oc it very nicely with some basic hardware mods.

Isn't it so that the performance of the D975BX from Intel (is that the one called "BadAxe" or something by the way??) isn't that great? I believe I read that in some review but I am not sure..
