Any cheap utility or other way to read Xerox .xif files on a Mac?

Hi All,

I'm prepping for these summer internet courses, and want to know if there's a way for my mac users to easily read stuff I saved in Pagis Millenium. Replies much appreicated.

I have never used this .xif format or ever heard of it, but I think you might want to try StarOffice and see if it can open this format. Also, does that xerox program support saving in other formats?

I think StarOffice might read that format. It is free and you can get if from Sun. It is a fairly large download though. Maybe you can burn a CD to let your students borrow to install, or buy one from Sun.

Thanks for the reply Mapidus. :)

It's the format Xerox and Scansoft use for all their imaging solutions--textbridge, Pagis, etc. Really a pretty cool format. There should, I think, be a simple utility for this... I'm afraid the Sun download would scare'em silly even if it did work. :)

I guess StarOffice would not be a solution for you since it seems as though the only Mac version of it right now is for OS X and most of your mac using students likely are not running OS X.

Have you considered distributing your files as PDFs or maybe in Word format or in worst case, GIF or JPEG?

You might want to try a program called GraphicConvertor. The QuickTime Picture viewer program might also support this .xif format.
