Well spring is coming up and I am hoping to get my moped on the street. It is a rather old moped from 1976 and I drove it around this summer without a license or insurance as it looks more like a bike then a moped.
I want to get it street legal so I will need insurance. Its stats are
Year: 1976
CCs: 49
Model: Velosolex S4600
Value: $450
State: Illinois
Legal Document Status: Currently registered to the state as a .75hp Motor Bike
I still need to transfer the title under my name
Still needs state plates
My Status: Getting my license in a week or two, 18 years of age, no previous traffic violations, Still in school
Now, as the value of this thing is not much and I cant really cause much damage with it, I think all I really would need is liability insurance. I will only be taking it locally as well.
Does anyone know of a very cheap moped insurance company that will insure me with liability? I went to progressive and Gecko and they really only have a tab list for motorcycle and ATV so I went under there and chose 49CC.
Progressive's 12Month Annual Rate was $85. Does that mean $85 per year or $85 per month? I never bought insurance so this is all kind of new to me.
