Any cheap/easy way to add Firewire to this G3 IMAC?

Hi all,

A colleague of mine has an Imac at home that he described as a "PowerPC G3,350MHz, 577 MB memory, Running OS 9.2.2." Apparantly it does NOT come with firewire capabilities. He wants a high-speed portable CDRW.

Any ideas on how to add firewire to a mac beast like this (apparantly it only comes with USB)? Would a cheap PCI card be the way to go, or something else?

TIA from this non-Mac person, Dave

Once I got to tear my brothers imac apart.

There are no expansion slots in that puppy.

Well, it's not cheap, but there are some imac processor upgrades that include a firewire connector for older machines starting around $300...

thanks for the replies guys...

Wow, it sounds like there's perhaps no affordable way to do this...I thought all modern macs had at least some room for expansion (e.g. PCI slots.) Then again I'm pretty ignorant on this...
