hi, i was planning on making a cheap computer for around $500. It would be for most anything, probably a little more gaming. So what are the best parts for 500 dollars?Any suggestions for parts? THANKS

-thermalright SLK-900A $30
-90mm fan, with speed depending on how loud you like things $10

TOTAL: $632

In your case, definately go with an 80GB/120GB hard drive and a less powerful graphics card; your budget does not allow you to do otherwise. I hope this helps. Ask if you have any questions.

. . . like the 1,000 other cheap computer threads, XP 2500+ mobile, nforce2, 512 MB. For gaming spend a little more so you can get a 9800 Pro.

Read The Friendly other Threads to find which mobo and memory.

Xp 2500+ $70
thermaltake Tr2TT fan, $8 with $5 shipping
Shuttle AN35-Ultra motherboard $55
Corsair 512mb PC3200 valueselect ram $89
You can overclock this to 3200+ easily with no knowledge of overclocking, just up the FSB to 200Mhz.
The rest of the part, save money by buying cheap stuff after rebates.
