All I want to do is store mp3 files on my pc and periodically burn a cd via a playlist that I can select song by song. The software with my Creative SB Live 5.1 X-Gamer sound card stinks. RealJukebox is a Real Mess..it won't recognise my HP cd12 burner as a legitimate device, plus it brings control freak and clutter problems with it. Windows Media player is worse and none of these including the HP RECORD NOW software (so TOTALLY UNSUPPORTED by Veritas that their e-mail bitch links don't work and neither do the download links to product manual) want to work with my burner. Should I just drop $50 to Nero? Or is there another alternative. I don't need to download to my cell phone, etc., just listen to some music and take a cd of it with me now and then. Also burn occasional cd-rw of doc and sys files. I've tried one piece of software after another all day long. The HP software that came with the burner has been replaced by the "newer, better, unsupported" HP RECORD NOW which won't let you copy the files to your hard disk. One program does one thing but not all and NONE of them want to work with the other. Where's my f***ing 8-TRACK!

Don't get ROXIO's EZ CD, that is a piece of junk in my opinion and I would bet that many people in this forum would agree with me. Go Nero 5.5... simply the best.

Another vote for Nero 5.5. It still amazes me with all the features it has.

I could not get Nero or ECDC 5.0 to work on win xp even with updates.

So...I'm using Music Match Jukebox 7.0. Rips MP3's to CD tracks, can now burn data to CD.
Simple to use and listen to your music.

Very underated product IMHO.

EX CD Creator sucks big time, Nero is better in every aspect I can possibly think of.

Definately get Nero. Another good program is CDRWin. Its really good for burning Bin/Cues but you can burn tracks of Mp3s for Audio CDs.

Why do so many people whine about EZ CD 5 - works perfectly each and everytime for me with my Panasonic CDRW?

I haven't had any problems with EZ CD either, so I guess to each his own. However, I normally use CDRWin for most of the stuff I do.

If it does what you are looking for a program to do, CDRWin is at the top of my list.

I use EZ CD, CloneCD and Fireburner with my XP and 24X Sanyo without problems.

If it works, why mess with it.......

another vote for clone cd.

another vote against roxio. i think they've jumped on the
copyright enforcement bandwagon and may be adding a
few inconvenient restrictions to future developments of
their burning ware. if you cheer riaa, roxio is your baby.

there is a nice list of burners at mp3mogul.com
