All I want to do is store mp3 files on my pc and periodically burn a cd via a playlist that I can select song by song. The software with my Creative SB Live 5.1 X-Gamer sound card stinks. RealJukebox is a Real Mess..it won't recognise my HP cd12 burner as a legitimate device, plus it brings control freak and clutter problems with it. Windows Media player is worse and none of these including the HP RECORD NOW software (so TOTALLY UNSUPPORTED by Veritas that their e-mail bitch links don't work and neither do the download links to product manual) want to work with my burner. Should I just drop $50 to Nero? Or is there another alternative. I don't need to download to my cell phone, etc., just listen to some music and take a cd of it with me now and then. Also burn occasional cd-rw of doc and sys files. I've tried one piece of software after another all day long. The HP software that came with the burner has been replaced by the "newer, better, unsupported" HP RECORD NOW which won't let you copy the files to your hard disk. One program does one thing but not all and NONE of them want to work with the other. Where's my f***ing 8-TRACK!
