My girlfriend has a 99 SC-1 and recently the heat has been acting up. When she turns on the heater it pumps out heat for 30 sec - 5 min then it stops (blower keeps going but with cold air). If she switches off the heater for a few min and tries again it will work briefly and die.

Just wondering if anyone would have an idea of whats going on.
 
Try moving the air temperature selector back and forth between hot and cold and see if it does anything. You could have a problem with the part that mixes the outside air to control the temperature.
