I purchased a 2013 Chevy Impala about two weeks ago. I've noticed when I'm listening to the radio the audio sounds for the lack of a better word muffled. It does not sound crystal clear. It happens with the car moving or parked. At first I thought it was just me but several other people have asked me about it while riding in my car. It is starting to really annoy me. Some times it sounds better some times worse. It changes so much

I don't believe it to be an issue with the broadcast distance because I work in town and several stations I listen to are only three blocks away from me. Could it be an issue with the antenna in the car? A loose wire? I'm trying to gather some more info before contacting the dealer. I haven't had much luck finding anything on Google.

Have you tried any other source? MP3? CD? Etc.

Is fade/balance set up correctly?

Check the fade, balance, and tone. If those are all normal, fade and balance it to each corner at a higher level of volume and check to see if it's coming from one area more than another. Check your source as well.

If you hold the button with the musical note on it in for a couple seconds, it will reset the audio settings.

Maybe it's the speed controlled volume that's bothering you?

I checked the fade, balance and tone and they were all in the middle. CD and AUX sound great. It only happens with the AM/FM radio. I will try resetting the audio settings by holding in the button with the musical note and report back. I don't believe this is the speed control volume. My previous car was an 03 Impala and I'm used to that function. But I will double check those settings too and report back.

Do you have HD radio? I know when mine goes from HD to SD, the SD will sound muffled.

I simply refuse to use stock car audio. I usually remove it all within first few days/weeks of car purchase.

If it's only FM I would suspect an antenna/signal booster (if equipped) or possibly tuner issue.
