Any canon S2IS or S3IS owners?

I would like to get another digital camera. Looking specifically at the canon S3IS. I know it shares alot of similarities with the S1IS and S2IS. IF you own or have used any of these, what are your personal opinions of them?
Does the SxIS series have good auto modes until I learn the manual settings, etc? My last camera was an older sony DSC-S85 so I want something better than that.

I'd like something that is mid to upper end but not dslr. How is the S3IS compared to DSLR?

Already looked a the typical review sites. Just want some info from actual users here.

I owned the S2IS late last year, and loved it. I think it fits in perfectly with your want of good auto modes, plus the ability to move into the manual modes when you so desire. Don't expect it to give you all the control you could ever want, though, but it gets the job done. It takes fantastic pictures also.

Check out the reviews for both models:

The S3 review will give you detailed differences between the two models (which isn't much), and will guide you to whether you want to spend less money on the fantastic S2, or opt to throw a little more money at the newer S3. Be warned, though, that for what you'll pay for the S3, you're getting into the range of the Nikon D50 kit (body+lens).

The Nikon D50 will be $100.00 more with any lens, no 12X zoom, image stabilization or live 3" LCD preview.

Can you use filters, like polarization filters with the S2/3?

Not even an option in my book unless you can use polarization filters...

Yes, I've got a Lensmate aluminum adapter and a UV filter on mine. There are also other filters including polarization filters...

Here's some random pics from my S2...

Thanks...nothin special...I'm still using Auto most of the time..😱

I was just using my Hoya UV Filter on those shots...a couple of them were from before I had the UV filter. I'm also considering picking up a polarizing filter...

Thanks for all the info so far.

Nice pics, Insane. You have any indoor pics using auto mode I can take a look at?
