Howdy,

My friend is looking for a budget notebook for herself, and she has only a maximum of $1400.00 (Canadian) to spend. Are there any good deals, or coupons that would help from any major brands (or minor brands)?

So far the Dell Inspiron 1100 seems to fit her order for a basic notebook as she will NOT be gaming at all, she just needs MS Office tasks and the occasional CD-R to be made.

Any links or suggestions for a budget notebook that falls =<$1400 with taxes?

Thanks for any and all help :)

Are laptops cheaper in Canada than the US?

I go to Toronto almost every year and alot of stuff is cheaper in Canada than the US. Its even cheaper with the exchange rate.

So are prices about the same or are they cheaper just like pharmacy drugs.

i wouldnt mind make a trip up to canada to pick up a laptop 200-300 dollars cheaper than the same model in the US.

This Dell.ca program has the cheapest price I've found for the 1100. The pricing on the Latitude D600 is also very good compared to Dell.ca standard pricing, but are a bit out of your price range.

Technically, its only for employees for certain companies though I know a lot of other people who aren't employees and had no problems with their purchases. It does appear that some people are getting calls from Dell to give evidence of their employment, though one guy hung up on the Dell rep and still got his order. Can't hurt to try.
