Any Cajun food fans out there?

I just had some chicken and sausage gumbo for lunch. Ummm... was it GOOD! 🙂

Before I moved to Houston three years ago, I had NEVER had Cajun food before. Now, it's slowly becoming one of my favorite ethnic foods. Any other fans? Any recommendations for other Cajun foods?

Had some excellent jambalya at a place in New Jersey.

I don't think there's any place in Utah to get this kinda food. 🙁

Like I said, I'd never had Cajun food before I moved to Houston. I will be utterly shocked if Utah gets a Cajun restaurant.

Anything in a sauce piquante.
Etouffee
Jambalaya kinda like gumbo, not soupy more ricey

But the spiciest food has got to be Cajun!

No, we have spicy food, just none from the Cajun genre. There are plenty of Thai, Indian, and Mexican restaurants around here.

I can't 🙂 . It's just a salty, somewhat spicy seasoning. Too much, however, can make a dish VERY salty.

Buy the small size and give it a try....especially if you've ever tasted and liked Cajun cuisine...

I was going to say try out Las Vegas, couple of really great cajun places there, but your kinda far as per mapquest: 411.42 miles or so. 🙂

Used to be a really great place in my town also, in fact, for thanksgiving/christmas you could take your turkey to them and they would "jerk" it. I guess they didn't do too well as they finally closed up.

Hell yeah. I'm in Lake Charles, LA, only 2 hours from houston. Drive across the border and get some boiled crawfish when it comes in season. Damn it's good. Check out all the other types mentioned in this thread. Tony's is one of the best things since, well, salt. It'll make anything taste better.

Oh yeah, if you want good eatin' for this time of year, pick up a Cajun Turducken. Damn good too.

I just got finished using some of that. It's kind of like season-all........TO THE EXTREME!!

Seriously though, it's similar to that with a lil more of a spicy twist.
