Question any breakthroughs in e-ink technology?

I remember reading maybe 8 years ago, that they were continuing research into color e-ink. I guess the technology works ok when there isn't a lot of movement, but with anything (video, 3d games, etc.) that has a lot of movement, there is blurring on the screen.

Has there been any significant advancement with this technology, or other energy saving technology when it comes to displays?

I ask because we recently retired our around decade old 24" monitors for new ones that only used about 45% of the power of the older models. Usually I use things until they die - this was the first time I've retired old monitors for energy efficiency. I wish I could get ahold of an e-ink Android phone - would love the increased battery life.

You got alot of advancements in screen technology! HDR is one of the biggies! Micro LED is coming slowly into the PC monitor area and OLED is prices are still high for PC monitor but getting reasonable for 4K HDTV. IMO everything is going to 32” as the go to size for PC monitors. 27” is where the market is at! Some are using 40”-42” OLED TV as monitors. I just find them way to big!

QD-OLED is where it's at, with micro LED not far behind it. I'm using a 48' OLED for a monitor now. Yes, it looks stupid on my desk, but I love it. My plan for next year is to replace my current Samsung tv with a QD-OLED set. If you haven't seen QD-OLED yet, you need to.

Curious about this too. LCD's hurt my eyes a bit and I'm hoping when e-ink becomes available it will help. I actually like the old CRT's more than LCD to be honest (suspicious about the health effects of sitting next to their huge EMF field though)

there are also large monochrome e-ink displays:

fun tech, not for me

Unfortunately, anything good for our health, is marketed as a premium product coz apparently, health itself is something for the elite, not the common people. This is the sad, pathetic world we live in.
