Rogers offers this service now and a friend is thinking of getting it, anyone know how it is ? It's 30$ a month CDN and says "up to twice as fast as dial up", I'm not sure how worth it that would be.

Any thoughts are welcome, thanks.

Alltel has a similar "light" DSL service here. It's not worth it IMHO for a 128k connection. You might as well pay the extra $10 here and get 2Mbps cable.

Most of the time, people that's offered Light Speed can not get cable. I don't know if any one remember Ricochet, and this works almost like it. It's wireless internet access, and if I have to choose, I'd stick to dial up.

Notice it says "up to". Rogers doesn't always deliver what they promise. Many customers are getting much less than 128. Pay the extra and get the full service or go with DSL.

holy crap that's anal rapage, there are many ISPs here for $29,95cdn/month that offer 1.2mbps/128-160kbps unlimited usage..
