That must rule boating in that area. Probably next year I will take it down to the Carribbean.

Got hooked on boating a around '92 when my father got rid of the ancient 14-foot 50 hp outboard and got a new 18 foot 175 hp I/O. That thing could fly, I'd go out and run around the lake (while on vacation) or the river (while at home) and spend many happy hours at 50+ mph. Just this year dad traded that one in and got another 18 foot I/O, this one with a 210 hp FI engine, the new one will run 52 mph all day, regardless of the load on the boat and it sticks to the water like it's suctioned there. I was lucky enough to be the first to use the new boat, I took it up to a friend's summer cottage on a Sr. skip day in May this year and my friends and I had a blast. We had the lake to ourselves so I was able to rip the water up for some really good tubing. (You can't just go around making huge tubing waves when there are other boaters on the lake.) Took it out on the 4th of July with some friends to watch the Fireworks on the river, nothing like laying on the bow of an anchored boat listening to fireworks echo up and down the river. Of course it helped that I had a girl laying with me on the bow. ;) For as much as I love boating, and my motorcycle, I've never gotten into the PWC craze, those things just hold almost no appeal to me.

Been through several 29 - 37 foot sailboats; and have now moved on to a 50" trawler.

Still have a Laser for sailing though.

Got my first boat last year, 1976 Checkmate Trimate, 140 Mercruiser inboard.
Runs about 45 with three people in it. Traded a 10/4/32 cdrw and a 44 mag SW for it.
Old POS but still Great fun!!
Till I tore the gears out of it anyway.(ring/pinion)

Looking forward to fixing it this spring!

My father has a 20' Aquasport with 150hp Suzuki outboard. Those not from the south are probably not familiar with Aquasport. It's a very open boat with a shallow vee made for packing in 4-5 people and go in shallower marsh waters for fishing. It makes an OK ski boat in a pinch, too (about 50 mph with 2 aboard and 1 skier). But, it's mainly used for fishing. My roomates and I also have a 16' catamaran we pulled from a junkyard and salvaged. We stripped the hull, reapplied fiberglass resin and repainted it. After the weekend of work that was, we've only sailed it twice, and it almost sunk on our last trip. It's currently rotting in our backyard. :)

our regal beats everyone for engine:) twin 454 big blocks:) the thing will run somewhere around 55-60 (the speedo only goes to 50) and is extremely efficient for smooth water running, not so great in big seas (damn modified v bottom) the only bad thing about ours is the gas bill whenever we pull up to a pump - 175 gal on the water is not cheap:(

I have a lake house on Lake Livingston here in Texas, so yes I am a boater. I currently have a Chapparel 19'3" ski boat. It has the Ford fuel injected Mustang H.O. engine in it, rated at 235HP. On still water with just me in the boat it will do ~60MPH.

I have a two stall boat house, one of which is currently empty. I am looking for a little aluminum boat for fishing/trot line running/bow hunting.

I have a bayliner 19 1/2' Capri, cuddy I use on our local lakes here in southern utah for trout fishing and water skiing.I bought it from my father who lives on Lake of the Ozarks year round. He upgraded to 27' searay,my favorite. It isn't fast, but neither am I. I like the scenery and the solitude of the water and a little fishing for 2-4 lb trout and bass.

Just got a 1976 Cruisers Inc 22 Cabin boat last year and I love it. Broke the ball gears out last year, so this winter I am going all over it to make everything is in great shape. Talk about an addictive sport with a big $pricetag, I've now got my eyes on a bigger boat. lol

My Dad had a 42 foot woodem ketch rig, double planked mahogany. Every other year we would sand and varnish the two masts, 3 booms and all the trim. Recaulking the seams below the waterline was a nothing to look forward to either. Fiberglass boats smell funny though. The boat show is in NYC, there are beautiful boats there. I work at this place part time > > > startsailing.com

good bass fishing in those waters
