When my mom used to keep a journal of stuff I was interested in as an infant, at about 2 weeks she noticed that I seemed to only really notice birds & airplanes. I've always been fascinated with birds (hence Accipiter as a screen name).

Anyway I was wondering if there were any other birdwatchers on ATOT.

I was at the park today and saw an odd duck. Might've been a cross-species. Head was green irridescent like that of the male mallard, but the rest of the duck was completely uniformly solid brown. No other Mallard markings. It was quite odd.

I like taking pictures of birds. I don't have any really good ones, but some are interesting.

Sounds like a cool hobby. I live near a large park in Chicago's north side but I think there is nearly enough avian diversity to justify the hobby.

I keep my feeder full most of the time even though half of the food goes to the squirrels. There is a male & female cardinal that visit the feeder several times daily so I enjoy checking them out. Depending on the time of year, there might be 5-6 different species at the feeder at once.

I'm working on scoring a better lens for my SLR or a teleconverter for my 70-210mm zoom lens. My window here in the office is about 60 feet from the feeder in the treeline and I just need a *little* extra zoom to be right on their beaks :)

But yeah, I enjoy birdwatching.
