Any Biologists out there?

So friends and I found this in the jetties at Mustang Island State Park (South Texas). We asked the park ranger what it was and she had no clue either. It was about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. It sort of flapped like a butterfly, which is what it is doing in the pic, and for the 10 minutes we watched it it floated the whole time. Anyone have any clue what it is?

That was my guess because they can swim, but it never went to the bottom. How long can they swim?

I thought those were stationary?

It might have broken loose or it could be some kinda of sea animal, might be a sea slug as mentioned above.

Looks like a sea hare. Does it squirt ink?
I've picked one up from the tide pools when I went there with my bio class and it squirted this purple ink all over my hands.
