is that a coda? has it been a fun bike? im considering a steel jamis

Yup. I've enjoyed it. It's been a very reliable/solidly built. The only nitpick I have is the rear brake cable over the top tube. The little plastic pieces that keep it from slapping the tube moved all over. I ended up threading it through some clear fish tank air tubing and that solved the problem.

is it noticeably heavy. i like steel cuz its durable (ive been hit by cars three times in the last year) but id be worried it would feel too sluggish compared to my carbon bikes. do you know what grade of steel yours uses. for the coda do you like the geometry, is it comfy?

Reynolds 631 air-hardened chromoly main tubes with heat treated-taper gauge cromo stays. Bike weighs in a 25lbs. Geometry has been fine for me, but honestly I don't have anything to compare it with. It's my first real bike; I had 'wal-mart' bikes before.

Joint pain where? If it is just your hands a full suspension isn't going to help any. Your money would go further with a hard tail and get you a better front fork which should help more with the hands. You might want to head over the mtbr.com and ask on their forum. They probably have people with rheumatoid arthritis that can be more help full. I'd ask about grips too, I'm sure there are certain kinds that would work better for you.

Shoulders, knees, hips and spine mostly.

I know that I can get more bike for my money with a hardtail but I'm more interested in getting something that will keep me in one piece and be fun for me rather than being as quick as possible.
