Any benefits from using rechargeable NiMH over alkalines

We have about 150 employees here that requires the use of a headset connected to their phones. The headsets do require a small amplifier that uses 2 AA batteries. Currently we just use regular alkaline batteries. Many of the employees who are heavy callers tend to go through their batteries quite quick so in a week we usually go through 25 or more batteries.

So my question is, will rechargeable NiMH really provide longer use than regular alkalines? I know they're great for high drain applications so they should be good for this application right?

Give them all a treadmill and have them create their own energy source.

My experience with rechargable AA and AAA NiMH batteries is that they don't last as long. As an example, if 2 AA alkaline batteries last 3-4 days in this device, rechargables will last probably about 2 days.

As long as everyone has at least 2 sets of batteries though then it would save you guys a lot of money still. Have 4 charged, when 2 go bad, replace with other 2 and charge the previous 2.

Well, you could just change out the rechargeable batteries at the end of the day every day if they don't last as long...
