Any benefit to using the DVI output of video card?

I have an old, but classic ATI 9700 Pro with standard VGA, S-video and a DVI output. I use a standard VGA out from the video card with a 5BCN connector input to my (iiyama) CRT monitor for a great picture. The card came with an DVI to VGA adapter is there any benefit using the DVI output over the VGA output to my monitor?

The path on the card is different and I recall some folks at rage3d using the adapter to solve queer interference problems but otherwise I wouldn't add another connector for no noticeable gain.
